ANSWERS

1. How to set up mail clients for secured connection with email?

For secured connection SSL / TLS use the next mail client settings:

  • Servers for acceptance/sending emails (pop3/smmtp/imap):

If your sites locate on  UNIX platform in USA, you should use mail server mail.ukrhosting.com.



If your sites locate on  UNIX platform in Ukraine, you should use mail server  mail2.ukrhosting.com.

If your sites locate on  UNIX platform in London, you should use mail server mailuk.ukrhosting.com.


  • Secured connection ports:

993   imaps
995   pop3s
465   smtps

Example for setting a secure connection with mail in the mail client Mozilla Thunderbird:

- for the incoming mail server (POP Mail Server)

- for the outgoing mail server (SMTP Server)

2. My email works slowly/unstable

When you store all messeges on server with using POP3-protocol for email it comes time when messeges in mailbox become too much which can affects on email's work (for example you may receive reports of inability to connect or reset the connection). In this case reconfigure email client on using  IMAP-protocol or enable option "do not save (delete) messages on server."

3. How to increase the reliability of mail delivery?

To improve the reliability of mail delivery we recommend of using a backup mail server. Backup mail server is used to receive mail when primary server is not available and for further delivery address in the user's box when the primary server resumes.

The postal relay is located under postal service for each domain - option "Mail relay", as described on screenshots:

  1. Sign in hosting panel and click on the bottom "Domains".

  2. Click on the icon "Click to edit settings" in the column "Controls" right of the opted domain.

  3. In the next window, click the "Click to edit services" menu in front of the postal service.

  4. Enable the option "Mail relay".

4. You are talking about e-mail service on site. What do you mean?

After the purchase of any our hosting plans you'll get access to your own virtual mail-server. With the help of the Hosting Control Panel,  H-Sphere, you can create mailboxes, aliases of the mailboxes, mail forwarding, mailing lists, autoresponders and easy manage them with Web-based Control Panel, Quick Access section: E-mail.

5. What is a mailbox/e-mail box?

Mailbox yourbox@domain is e-mail service, which provides storage of mail arriving at yourbox@domain on our server.

6. How can I pick up mail from your mailbox mymailbox@mydomain.com, which is supported by your server?

You can access of any your mailbox, which is supported by our server, using the H-Sphere Control Panel directly from Web Mail or download mail onto your own computer with any email program that supports the work by using POP3.

7. How can I check my mail via the interface of Web mail provided by you?

You can access via the Webmail for any your mailboxes, which is supported by our server in two ways: directly through the Webmail (1) and via the interface of Control Panel (2).

1. For this on page http://mail.mydomain.com (enter your domain) you must click on the program EMail Utilities link IMP - mail client.
After that, fill in the field, while in the "Your E-mail" you must enter the full address of the mailbox type as mymailbox@mydomain.com.
After finishing work with Web-mail you must correctly exit the program by clicking on the button Logout.
Since the IP-addresses can change, we recommend to use input from the page http://mail.mydomain.com and to continue follow links.
2. To get to the mailbox in the second case is possible without a password. To do this, select the menu option Webmail in Quick access or go to the settings of E-mails -> Select Domain -> Find the mailbox -> click on the icon Launch next to post office box address.
After finishing work with Web-mails must correctly exit the program by clicking on the button Logout, otherwise the next time you'll need to enter a password to access the mailbox.

8. Why can't I get mail, using a password to access the Control Panel?

Password to access the Control Panel may be different from the password to access the mailboxes, as well as passwords may be different for different mailboxes. You may at any time to change or set a password to any of your mailboxes by using the Control Panel E-mail -> Select Mailbox -> click on the Mailbox link for editing -> enter new password and then apply the changes. As an increase Security and Compliance, we recommend to change your passwords to access your mailboxes periodically.

9. How can I change the password to my mailbox?

There are two options for changing the password.

First choice:

  1. log in to your Control Panel account.
  2. from the Quick Access menu select the E-mail.


  3. Choose the mail domain to which belongs the box.

  4. Find a mailbox in the list of existing ones.
  5. Click on the icon Click to edit Mailbox in Resources included column.

  6. Enter a new password in the section Edit E-Mail -> Password.

  7. Click Submit.

Second choice:

  1. Go to page http://mail.mydomain.com (your domain);
  2. Click on the link Change Your POP3 password;
  3. Enter the full name of the mailbox user@domain.com, password to which you want to change;
  4. Then in the Old Password box type your old password;
  5. In the Password box type the new password;
  6. In the Confirm Password box confirm the new password;
  7. Confirm changes by clicking Change.

10. What is the mail alias?

Alias box1@domain of mailbox box2@domain - e-mail service that provides a redirection of correspondence, incoming at address box1@domain, at address box2@domain. Redirecting performed within the boundaries of a mail server. This means that you can not create an alias box1@domain.ua for box2@domain1.ua. To implement the mail forwarding to another mail server, as well as to send to multiple addresses exists Mail Forwarding service.

11. What is Mail forward?

Mail Forwarding - e-mail service, which provides mail forwarding, incoming at address box1@domain, at e-mail address box2@domain2. And box2@domain2 can be serviced by another mail server. Mail forwarding can be implemented on several different email addresses.

12. What is a Mailing list?

Mailing list - e-mail service that allows you to create and manage mailing lists e-mail messages to several email addresses.
This Control Panel functions implemented using EZMLM/IDX MAILING LIST MANAGER. With it help you can distribute the message to the list of subscribers, manage the list of subscribers, archive messages, send periodic news releases, remotely manage the list via e-mail, moderating the messages and the process of subscription / unsubscription, set permissions to sending messages and much more.
Always keep in mind opinion of the recipients when people are signing up on the Mailing List and sending messages. Maybe if they signed without their knowledge, they will be unhappy with this fact.
To prevent false subscription e-mail address of one person on another person on the Mailing Lists there is a mechanism to confirm the subscription by the fact that he is not against being signed to this mailing list. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to configure your mailing list to always choose the item "Subscription requires confirmation by reply to a message sent to the subscription address".
Be moderate in creating mailing lists with many subscribers - sending spam information, especially for commercial and promotional messages, is considered bad manners in the Internet. Believe me - it will bring you disgruntled reviews of users, but won't bring expected return and profit.

Do not use mailing lists to send advertising messages (spam) without the prior consent of the addressee. This restriction applies to all other resources of our servers.

13. What is an Autoresponder?

Autoresponder - a special feature of mailbox box@domain, which allows a response to each incoming to address box@domain email to automatically send a certain message. It is quite convenient in cases when the person for some reasons hasn't had access to a mailbox, for example, went on vacation. In this case, a message sender will be informed that his request was not lost, but hasn't been read by anyone yet.

To create a voice mailbox go to the Hosting Control Panel,  H-Sphere ->  E-mail

Choose mailbox for which autoresponder will be installed, click on the Click to edit Mailbox icon in Resources included column. On the appeared page check the tick box in the line Autoresponder and enter your message.

14. How can I create for myself a mailbox, mailbox alias, mail forwarding, mailing list? And how to edit it?

To do this you must use the Control Panel: go to section Mail Services / E-mails, click on Add new mail resource (1.) or the Add new mail resource (2.) on the top of the resources table.
Then create your desired type of resource:
 
1. New mail resource is meaning mailbox, mail alias, mail forward. To do this, put a tick in the box (you can simultaneously create more than one mail resource) next to the name of the resource and enter the necessary data to create a resource. Then apply the changes by clicking the OK button.
 
2. When you create a new mailing list you must enter the address of mailing list, for example news@domain.com, after that you need to add subscribers, moderators and edit the properties of a mailing list.

15. Why, when I create a new mail (or other) resource, Control Panel displays a message about the need for additional payments?

It's happens because you have already registered a certain number of mail (or other) resources which is permitted in your hosting plan and you are trying to create an additional resource support which may include additional charges for installation and / or an additional monthly fee. If you agree to the proposed additional payment, your hosting fees will be increased by the amount specified in the message.

16. What happens in the regime Catch All in the Properties of the mailbox?

If the regime enabled, all email messages that are addressed to nonexistent on the mail server recipients will be sent to this address.

17. What is the mode of Discard All Incoming Mail in the properties of the mailbox?

This a mode of the mailbox in which e-mails that comes to the mailbox, will not be saved on the server.

Include this option only if you are absolutely sure that you do not need all arriving at the mailbox post.

18. Do you Installed on your mail server antivirus and antispam? And how to expand them?

Yes, on the mail server UKRHOSTING installed and antispam, and antivirus. To activate them, please follow the next:

  • in Control Hosting Panel, H-Sphere, select sectoin e-mail

 

  • In selected mail box editing turn on  AntiSpam and AntiVirus options

19. What is the path to sendmail on the server?

In your scripts specify the Sendmail path in this way: /usr/sbin/sendmail.

20. Can I send mail through the function PHP-mail ()?

Yes you can. But message on some mail servers (for example mail.ru, ukr.net) can be not delivered.

Here's a simple code example:

Actions by sending correspondence that does not meet the above requirements shall be deemed in violation of using the Internet, which are binding for all our customers and sent messages will fall into the category of spam with all its consequences (until the closure of your account). Since, according to an agreement to provide hosting services, in this case the UKRHOSTING reserves the right to suspend the hosting services or terminate the contract unilaterally.

21. How to do mailing by using scripts correct?

If you send mail through sendmail (using function php - mail() or similar to it), it is necessary that in the header of letter have been given the correct field Return-Path, Reply-To and From. However UKRHOSTING recommends to use SMTP. More information about it can be found on the site http://php.net.

Failure to comply with such requirements is the reason that the sender of messages can not see the server response that the mail was not delivered to the correspondent (the so-called "beat them") and, accordingly, loses ability to monitor a list of the subscribed addresses.

We remind you that reusable sending emails to a nonexistent (false) addresses may be referred to the spam activity. The owner of an Internet resource that makes the mail list, should monitor the dispatch and should be fully responsible for the validity email addresses of recipients.
Actions by sending correspondence that does not meet the above requirements shall be deemed in violation the Standards of using the Internet, which are binding for all our customers and sent messages will fall into the category of spam with all its consequences (until cancellation). Since, according to an agreement to provide hosting services UKRHOSTING in this case, reserves the right to suspend the provision of hosting services, or terminate the contract unilaterally.

22. What port I need to use for sending mail? What to do if port 25 of ISP is closed?

To send mail from mail program you can use either the 25th or 2525th ports. If your ISP has closed port 25 for sending mail, enter 2525th port.

23. Why do mail does not reach to some mailboxes sometimes?

  1. Invalid e-mail address of the recipient.
  2. Mail is send using script, not by using the e-mail program (see above).

24. Why could not be sent mail using the mail program?

  1. Mailbox configured incorrect.
  2. Your Internet service provider has closed access to "is not his own" SMTP-server. In this case, specify the SMTP-server of your Internet service provider as a server for sending messages instead of the server mail.your-domain.com, given to you by UKRHOSTING. Leave the POP3-server as a mail.your-domain.com.
  3. Carried out simultaneously access the single mailbox from two mail programs, or from email program and through web-mail, for example.

25. I want that the mail of the domain name that hosted on your hosting, comes to my mail server.

To do it you must:

  1. Go to the Domains menu in your Control Panel account.

  2. Select the desired domain name, go to edit page properties.
  3. Disable email services by default, clicking on the icon ON next to item Mail Service, while ON is changed to OFF.
  4. Enter the Configuration DNS menu, clicking on the icon Edit, located near.
  5. Add a custom A-record by clicking on the link Add A-record:
    - name -> specify subdomain, for example mail;
    - the lifetime of zone -> by default 86400;
    - data -> specify the IP-address of your local server.
  6. Then add a custom MX-record by clicking on the link Add MX-record:
    - name -> leave the field blank;
    - data -> point 10;
    - Specify "A" record created above.


Example:: For a domain mydomen.com.ua redirect the all email traffic to server with the IP-address 123.45.67.89.
Created a custom A-record: mail.mydomen.com.ua 86400 IN A 123.45.67.89.
Created a custom MX-record: mydomen.com.ua IN MX 10 mail.mydomen.com.ua.

Where mail.mydomen.com.ua, mydomen.com.ua – name;
       86400 - the lifetime of zone;
       IN – class;
       A, MX – type of record;
       123.45.67.89, 10 mail.mydomen.com.ua – data.

26. Where do email messages sent by PHP script return to in case recepient's email address specified is incorrect?

Letters returns at address Return-Path, which is formed from the field FROM, when sending emails through PHP. If you send mail via SMTP, you must define this parameter by yourself. If it's incorrect, the letter won't be delivered.

27. What is a screenshot and how can I do it?

Screenshot is a picture that accurately reflects something that shows your monitor at any given time.

Screenshots show everything that you see by yourself - the cursor, all open windows in the order in which they are located on the screen.

Removal of screenshots is an important part of work. Screenshots are very useful for support service, because they accurately reflect everything that the user sees - error messages, used programs, even give an idea of previous user actions.

Steps for creating a screenshot:

  1. Hold down the Alt key and PrintScreen (upper right corner of the keyboard) and screenshot will be recorded in memory of a computer. It's the picture of the current state of the screen, or rather a picture of the current active window.
  2. Open the embedded graphic editor Paint (or whatever).
  3. Click on the Paste in the Edit top menu.
  4. Save the file by clicking on the Save As in the File menu. Select the File Type *.JPEG (*.JPG, *.JPEG, *.JPE, *.JFIF).
  5. That's all. The screenshot is ready!
